Job Description Summary

As an Accounts Payable Supervisor working for Taylor Morrison you will be responsible for supervising activities and operations in the accounts payable function for the organization. You will ensure timely payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers and maintain accurate financial records and control reports. Collaboratively work with all divisions, departments and trade partners to ensure the department appropriately processes payments and responds to internal and external inquires in a timely manner.

We trust that as an Accounts Payable Supervisor you will: (responsibilities)

  • Provide leadership to Accounts Payable team and work closely with Accounts Payable Manager

  • Contribute to the overall operation of the Finance Department

  • Responsible for maintaining an effective and efficient system for processing and distributing payments

  • Supervise Accounts Payable Administrators, ensuring that payments are handled accurately, timely and in accordance with company accounts payable policies and procedures manual

  • Maintain professional and cooperative working relationships with all departments and levels of management

  • Maintain good vendor relationships as a representative of the Company

  • Assists in the continuous review of accounts payable policies and procedures and recommend improvements to procedures as necessary

  • Supervise vendor management to ensure setup and W9s are valid and up-to-date in compliance with Legal and IRS requirements

  • Acts as first point of contact to resolve escalated issues

  • Interviewing, selecting, and training employees

  • Work schedule arrangement

  • Evaluating employee productivity; handling complaints or disciplining employees alongside Accounts Payable Manager

  • Defining work techniques

  • Allocating work among employees

  • Determining the types of equipment to be used in performing work, or supplies needed

  • Monitoring work for legal or regulatory compliance

  • Providing for safety and security of the workplace

About you:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business related field or equivalent experience and training

  • Minimum 3 years of accounts payable or related experience required, some experience in a lead or supervisory role preferred

  • Lien waiver and homebuilding process knowledge preferred

  • 1099 processing and vendor record setup preferred

  • Technical knowledge of full cycle accounts payable best practices

  • Experience with accounting systems and software, Newstar preferred

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications as well as have savvy computer skills

  • Organized and proficient documentation

  • Flexible and prioritizes tasks in order to meet deadlines

FLSA Status: Exempt

  • Interviewing, coaching, and training employees

  • Appraising productivity; handling employee grievances or complaints, or disciplining employees

  • Monitoring work for legal or regulatory compliance

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time

  • The ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
